SIR – Bus lanes are OK when there are many buses using them.

Woodside Road, which starts in Wyke and ends in Low Moor, has just had a bus lane installed. But there is only one bus which uses this road and it is the X6 limited stop.

It runs every 20 minutes and doesn’t have many passengers after rush hour. Some £95,000 of taxpayers’ money has been wasted yet again on installing traffic lights and creating this bus lane which is going to make things even worse.

This road was built as a by-pass to take traffic away from New Road Side more than 40 years ago. Cars do not use the old Huddersfield Road at this point as they cannot get out at the junction, hence the bottlenecks on the road.

The tailbacks on Woodside Road are a nightmare now and the new lights will not help. Who is it planning these stupid alterations? Who is it that carried out these surveys and wastes our money?

The X6 is limited stop in either direction, and includes Bankfoot and Wyke. Low Moor folk can’t get on it.
