Rail stations overkill SIR – Re the recent report ‘Bingley station to be given a makeover’ (T&A, May 16).
This is fine, but why is there a station at Crossflatts a mile up the line? Surveys report that this station is deserted during the day, as is Silsden. The same at Baildon.
Up the Wharfe Valley there is Guiseley, Menston, Burley-in-Wharfedale, and Ben Rhydding only a few hundred yards from Ilkley station.
Now we read that Low Moor is not on the priority list, so it has been shelved. I wonder if Apperley Bridge station is to go ahead? No mention of this.
The Aire and Wharfedale lines have many stations serving the communities, but from Interchange there is nothing until Pudsey, southwards nothing till Halifax.
Why is this? What about Laisterdyke? The people have to watch the trains pass their homes. It’s the same on the Calderdale line.
Just what goes on in City Hall? Why aren’t our MPs doing something for a change?
Then to cap it all off, who thought up the idea to put a station at Frizinghall, a mile from Forster Square? There are some out there who just don’t have a clue.
