SIR – The UKIP candidate has just hit the nail on the head with the final paragraph of his letter (T&A, May 17).

The bird strikes and noise issues have been thoroughly discredited. I’m not sure where he’s going with his point about concrete, but he gets it right in the last paragraph. The only possible reason that people don’t want a turbine around them is the tremendously selfish position that it will lower someone’s house value.

So there you have it. We can’t have wind energy because you will lose money. Selfish Nimbyism at its finest.
