SIR – Councillor David Green backs the proposed combined authority to drive through major transport and regeneration projects (T&A, May 14).
He blithely accepts that it could, and undoubtedly would, result in taxpayers being forced to pay an extra unspecified precept on top of their council tax bill.
This supererogatory authority will be measured by the amount of money spent, rather than value for money, for it will probably be run by the remnants of the discredited cliques who ran Yorkshire Forward and Bradford Centre Regeneration, aided and abetted by those senior Bradford officials who live elsewhere and do not pay our council tax.
The question that needs to be asked is, who is going to benefit? On my assessment it will not be the citizens of Bradford, so this is something else that you need to think again about, David.
