SIR – There are currently more than 800,000 people with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, in the UK.
Caring for a loved one with dementia can be a stressful experience at the best of times, but what’s worse is a great many people aren’t getting any support at all because they don’t realise they are carers. Instead they are struggling on.
Vitalise is one of a handful of charities providing specialist respite breaks for families coping with Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as other disabilities. We need now to reach out to the UK’s invisible army of carers and give them support.
If you or someone you care about would like to know more about how Vitalise can help, call 0303 3030145 or visit vitalise.org.uk.
