SIR – You rightly report on the impenetrable nonsense that is the ‘road map’ document for Bradford’s ‘Joint Strategic Needs Assessment’.
What saddens me is the response of a very expensively-procured consultant – a man who essentially said “we don’t care if it’s too complicated and jargon-ridden for people to understand”.
Quite frankly, if Greg Fell is incapable of communicating in language that the average person can understand, then he is unsuitable for a job that involves communicating with the people of Bradford.
For years the public health agenda has been set without reference to, or consideration of, the interests and priorities of the public. Instead we’ve had an endless stream of nannying fussbucketry all wrapped up in the sort of babble you highlight in your article.
Perhaps questioning the language will open up opportunities to challenge the nanny state and to set a local health agenda truly responsive to the needs of the Bradford public.I live in hope.
