SIR – I am in a bit of shock right now due to receiving a letter from my electricity and gas supplier, First Utility.
They have been kind enough to advise me that my new electricity price will go up from 9.57 to 15.08 pence per kWh.
This represents a rise of 57.57 per cent!
Has this enormous rise been agreed by Ofgem, or indeed any other government department? This is as crazy as it is outrageous.
They sugar their offer by saying the daily rate will reduce from 18.8 to 14 pence per day, a “massive” saving of £1.44 a month.
