SIR – The new model Labour Party wasted £8,000 million on a failed NHS computer project.

Now with universal benefit the Tories are about to match that. How are the disparate and complex computer systems of the Inland Revenue and the DWP going to talk to each other? From my own past extensive experience of computing, I know it’s going to be a monumental catastrophe and will be cancelled.

Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of pounds will have been wasted on trying to get it working!

Modern British governments waste so much money – it is no longer a joke.
