SIR – Replying to D Rhodes’s letter in response to mine (T&A, April 30), I never said that New York City was a perfect place and was free of litter, but if Bradford is cleaning the streets every day, then they are not cleaning up Leeds Road and beyond.
Let’s face it, all areas in major cities that tourists will visit are clean, otherwise no-one would visit, but my ‘home town’ has lost its lustre. The volume of people in New York city is in the millions and during business hours, it swells even more. You can’t compare that with Bradford.
I was only reminiscing what Bradford used to be like, and hope that with a ‘new city centre’ coming, the people who live in it will keep it neat and tidy.
