SIR – As chairman of the Bradford and Shipley Branch of Parkinsons UK, I would like to thank all those who made our Parkinsons Awareness Week banquet at City Hall on April 19 a resounding success.
First on my list is Lord Mayor, Councillor Dale Smith, who not only suggested the event when he visited our morning exercise class, but also paid for his own dinner. Thanks to the Lord Mayor’s office and the City Hall catering staff, who laid on such a wonderful spread.
The event was a team effort, but I must mention particularly Maureen Leverington and Louise Routledge.
And I must thank those who supported us on the night, both carers and sufferers. We hope to respond by attending the Shaken Not Stirred Parkinsons Ball in Harrogate on June 15.
We now have a substantial contribution to the £1,500 annual costs of transport to and from our exercise classes, making life more tolerable for those who suffer from this disease.
