SIR – The funeral of Maggie Thatcher passed off with almost total public indifference in the centre of Bradford, although it was lovely to see symbolic champagne glasses of free milk being offered to passers-by in Centenary Square.
The people in charge at City Hall missed an opportunity to use our clock bells to ring out a memorable tune from The Wizard of Oz.
We all know that the bells can be programmed to play a variety of carols and other tunes on appropriate days, so it was disappointing not to hear their ding-dongs marking the occasion on Wednesday.
