SIR – Mr G S Gill, (‘Principles to follow’, Letters, April 19), is among others in decrying criticism of the late Margaret Thatcher because, although he might not agree with all that she did, “she had her principles”, (and stuck to them).
If that is all that one needs to be classed as good and great, there was a certain leader who started out as an Austrian corporal who has been badly maligned for several decades.
