SIR – It’s good to know messrs Osborne and Cameron’s austerity policy is working so well. How else could they afford to waste public money on such important issues such as the plebgate scandal, already nearly £150,000 and still counting?

Then, of course, the funeral of Margaret Thatcher, the milk snatcher.

I would imagine the countless people who lost their jobs in mining, steel industry, car manufacturers, not to mention all the other industries she crippled, would be more than happy to offer another solution as to how the £10 million estimated cost can be saved rather than throwing yet more of our money away.

Not content with squeezing every penny they can from people who can’t afford it, forcing them to live on the bread line, they have the nerve to say the country can afford to pay for the lavish send off.

If they have so much money to spare, why don’t they pay it off the enormous national debt and give the poor struggling public a break?
