SIR – As a Conservative, I’m being asked about what I make of the outpourings of bile emanating from such as Mr Galloway (with delicious comedic irony, under his ‘Respect’ Party tag) and a ragbag of others on the political Left, following the death of Baroness Thatcher.
I think people expect me to adopt the stereotypical ‘Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells’ approach.
Sorry to disappoint them, but I’m perfectly relaxed about it. I believe in freedom of speech, with the associated freedom thereby to demonstrate witless uncouth stupidity.
Some on the Left are succeeding triumphantly in achieving the latter, but I suspect Mr Miliband is a shade uneasy about the way in which their reaction at street/gutter level seems to cover a rather limited spectrum, ranging from contemptible discourtesy to moronic thuggery.
