SIR – Once again, comments by George Galloway MP shows how evil he is, along with some of his so-called Christian supporters, and I am deeply shocked by the vitriolic comments regarding Baroness Thatcher.
I do have to point out that, like always, Mr Karl Dallas (Letters, April 11) has got his facts wrong when he makes comments like “the free school milk she snatched from our children”.
I’m sorry, but that is a ludicrous comment. By the 1980s, milk was no longer needed by the majority of school children. I can remember crates of milk curdling in the playground as a child because no-one wanted to drink it, because by the time break time came the delivery had sat in the sun for a few hours and it was warm. The country was no longer subject to rations, so the free milk for every child had to end at some point.
Children under five attending nursery or schools today are still entitled to milk up to their fifth birthday, and to say it was snatched or stolen from us is ridiculous. It was a practical decision borne out of a lot of waste.
Under Blair/Brown, child poverty started to grow big time, and they took over an economy that was strong, then sold off the gold reserves and carried on to mess things up.
