SIR – Further to your piece in the T&A yesterday (April 8) about waste disposal permits, the whole issue is getting more ridiculous as the days pass.
I sent a complaint to the Council on receipt of my Council Tax bill.
I have had a message on my answer phone a couple of days later saying they would ring back, but nothing since, until this morning. I have now received a resident’s permit by first class post.
I haven’t actually applied for one and it is for Dowley Gap, not the nearest to Cullingworth, which would be Sugden End.
When reading the form with the permit, it says the permits can be used at any facility – information not on the application form!
The cost of this must be tens of thousands of pounds already and that is just for permits, if it costs £1 per permit and 10,000 have already been issued, according to your other article yesterday.
That will fade into insignificance once the clearing up of the huge rise in fly-tipping is taken into account.
The sums, as usual, just don’t add up!
Time for this out-of-touch council to scrap this ill-conceived idea.
Terry Guest, Sunningdale Crescent, Cullingworth
