SIR – I was talking to my friend the other day who was saying he took his son to an agency for a job. He filled all the paperwork in and was told to go for an induction on the Monday. Everything was fine until he was asked for his passport. He said he did not have one so he was sent home and told he could not work for the agency.
Since when has it been British policy to need a passport to get a job if you’re a British or English born national?
We can work where we want in Britain without a passport. It’s wrong and it’s got to stop.
