SIR – The Government’s blind refusal to believe countless articles exposing incriminating reasons for leaving the EU beggars belief.
In 1973, the Government under Edward Heath took us into the ‘Common Market’, deliberately concealing what the now-called EU’s aims really were. Recently the PM called on Argentina to respect the wishes of the Falkland islanders after they voted to remain British. Why then does the PM not respect business leaders and the British people’s overwhelming wishes to be ruled by Britain, as opposed to Brussels?
I believe that in making us wait another four years for a referendum, Britain will be so deeply entrenched in Europe it would be impossible to pull out. The financial implications would be too great. The PM knows that and I dare say the majority of MPs do as well.
The PM’s defiance leads me to believe there is an ulterior motive behind this senseless refusal, in view of the overwhelming evidence to do so.
That motive could very well be our MPs one day expecting to have pay parity with Euro MPs. I strongly believe that is exactly their hidden agenda.
