SIR – I have just read the article about the anger because Bradford Council has decided to ignore a petition signed by 1,700 against the development at Buck Lane.
What do you expect when the politicians in London chose to ignore a petition signed by more than 600,000 people against same-sex marriage and the Scots government have decided to do a similar thing with a petition north of the border.
Let's be honest, we no longer live in a democracy, if we ever did. The only time politicians listen to the people is when it suits them, when they want our votes to stay in power.
And they wonder why so few people vote? When politicians, both local and national, listen to the people then people might begin to vote for them.
