SIR – Hello readers and a happy and healthy New Year to one and all.
It’s nice to start the New Year with a positive letter instead of my usual Grumpy Old Women sort. Reading in the T&A (January 15) of the Council’s bid to build four new homes for the elderly in Bradford gladdened my heart, especially of the type of build they propose – an inbetweener’s residence, somewhere between sheltered and residential types.
At first I thought Goitside would be a tad too noisy for elderly residents, but then realised that somewhere more central was perfect; not having to travel into Bradford to spend their pensions, easy walking distance back home and on the doorstep for visitors from outside. For once (hopefully not the only time this year), Bradford Council has my blessing. One thing I’d like to see, though, is that they create these care homes before they tear down the other ones they own. Rita Robertshaw, Dalecroft Rise, Bradford
