SIR – If the new station at Low Moor is to be built on the site it is earmarked for, the people of Spen Valley will be cut off forever with no chance of a line being built in the “far distant future”.
Mind you, the station has yet to be built – they keep putting the opening back each year.
Who actually owns the site of the original station? Whatever, it should be built there. There’s plenty of room for cars and access to the M606 is nearby.
As for the excuses in delaying the building, one of them is a curved platform. The original station was on a curve. For goodness sake, the Victorians built tunnels three miles long (Standege), massive iron bridges (without disrupting traffic as they do on M62) and curved platforms of which there are many still in use across the country.
So don’t come up with excuses like this – just admit it, you don’t want to build it.
