SIR – Re the letter from Councillor Glen Miller, leader of the Conservative group on Bradford Council (T&A, January 3), headed ‘Refuse collection chaos’.
It would appear that he has only taken this opportunity to write the letter as a consequence of him personally suffering with a culmination of rubbish over the Christmas and New Year and not concerns for the residents of Bradford and Keighley.
In defence of the collectors, I and my neighbours wish to congratulate Bradford Council for informing us of the Christmas/New Year collection arrangement. We all received a sticker/tag on our bins in early December; this clearly highlighted the collection days.
Yes there was a slight delay from the Christmas collection to our next collection, but we all recycle and as such any additional waste was spread among our recycling bins. Indeed residents in Leeds did not receive any collections over the Christmas period at all.
May I make a suggestion/strategy to Coun Miller, ie, he should, as the leader of the Conservative group, set an example (try recycling). This would accommodate most of the waste generated during the festive season.
