SIR – Re Bob Watson’s letter (T&A, January 7), we had a similar situation. Our bin gets emptied on a Tuesday. The cottages across the road get emptied on a Wednesday and my next-door neighbours’ gets emptied on a Thursday.
We must be in the Bermuda Triangle of Bingley for bin-emptying. We had a leaflet attached to our bin explaining the alternate days and I thought we had missed a Saturday collection.
I sent an e-mail to the Council and they informed me our missed collection was to be January 5. Would we ensure that the bins were out by 7.30am on said morning? At 5pm on January 5 we have a mountain of bins and refuse sacks stacked at the side of the road.
I sent another e-mail that evening and I am still waiting for a reply.
Hopefully the bins and all the mess left by the bins being left on the footpaths since will be cleaned up by the time this letter is published as it looks like cats and foxes have had a really good time looking for lots of scraps of food.
So, unfortunately, unlike Bob Watson, from Baildon, we have not been so lucky.
Steve Cochrane, Crownest Road, Bingley
