SIR – With regards to the letter of Nicola Sangster (January 3), the first thing her day proves is that she is part of the problem not the solution.
She says she went to the cash machine at the bank and the self-service till at the supermarket. Tell me why should businesses pay for staff when you, the customer, do not make them do any work?
Boycott self-service and make the staff work. This is something that Nicola and the rest of us can do to help create jobs. If they don’t get more staff, go somewhere else. Stop using machines, start using the workforce.
As regards Councillor Miller and the refuse problem, he says he is a member of the Council, therefore he had no plan in place and he had enough time to implement a strategy so perhaps he, as leader of the Conservative group, should have brought the subject up, thereby not having to apologise and make a woeful attempt to pass the buck.
