SIR - In your Business View' column (T&A, October 30), Maud Marshall, chief executive of Bradford Centre Regeneration urges patience to be shown while plans are finalised before construction of the Broadway Development commences.
Plans for the Broadway Development have been prepared for several years despite certain modifications, which is a usual occurrence, and the fact that Westfield is but the latest developer following Stannifer surrendering its interests.
In view of this it is difficult to account for the delay.
However, it is doubtful whether other cities would experience such a large gap between demolition and construction on a primary retail site as is the case in Bradford.
A similar situation had occurred in 1995, when the Rawson Market was demolished which left an empty site for nearly ten years!
Despite Maud Marshall's reassurances, it would be prudent to remain sceptical until construction commences.
