SIR - Re your article Improve patient care' (T&A, October 24).
Earlier this year I was admitted to the BRI for three small operations to be done the same day. After all three operations I had to ask the nurses if I could stay overnight because I felt poorly.
I was told OK, if you must' was the impression I received.
My point is - how much sooner should I have been released to save the hospital the cost of the length of stay, as quoted in your list of savings?
All the items for saving money in your paper neglect to list the one thing which makes the patient get well quickly - caring.
Please don't let us continue to ignore care for large profit.
