SIR - People living in Harrogate Street, Lister Lane and Bolton Road areas of the city for some 17 continuous nights have been entertained to the noise of loud banger-type fireworks.
On the recent day of very heavy, continuous rain, silence reigned until the rain stopped at 10.45pm!
People living in the affected areas and especially the elderly residents of several care homes in the area are wearying of this very noisy nightly display.
Believing that an environmental officer is being committed, but also appreciating the difficulties which environmental health staff and the police have in controlling such a spasmodic disturbance of the peace, I would ask is anything positive being done by them to control this intrusive disturbance of the peace and quiet of the area?
