VOLUNTEERS joined together over the weekend to clean up the duck pond in Bradford Moor Park and remove litter.
The Friends of Bradford Moor Park volunteers said a "staggering amount" of litter was cleared over three hours on Sunday, including two traffic cones and two licence plates which were confirmed as being stolen from vehicles.
Organiser Naz Kosar said: “Bradford Moor Park is such a beautiful green space for the local community, and we’re proud to help look after it.
"It was wonderful to have so many people from different communities join us to help out on the day, and we hope that as we continue to organise these events the word will spread and we’ll have less litter to remove in future.
"Although much work is still required, the pond is now looking better than ever and will continue to be an excellent home to all sorts of wildlife, and the kids had a great time with our free activities.
“Our thanks go out to everyone who gave up their time to help, including the local PSCOs Rebecca Gibson and Alice Dobson.
"Also, to Better Start Bradford and Council's Covid prevention and awareness team as well as the parks team for their continuous support towards the group.”
She said the park is a "real hidden gem", with beautiful open spaces, a children’s play area, football pitch, basketball courts, and the duck pond.
The Friends of Bradford Moor Park welcomes new volunteers and everyone is encouraged to get involved.
