TikTok hacks that could save you money according to experts
Here are some of the financial life hacks recommended by Immerse Education:
The "would you rather hack" for saving money
This life hack claims to help people avoid impulse buying while trying to save money.
Business student Louise explained: "When I started to look at my bank statements in more detail I realised I was spending money on items that I hadn't planned on buying before going shopping. I knew I needed to change this."
"I then found a hack on TikTok from @lovechloejane that said that if you find yourself wanting an item, pick it up and look at the price. Then put that same amount of money in your other hand and look at both of them."
"Then you should play a game, if someone were to give you either the item or the cash for free what would you pick? If you pick the money, put the item down as you don't need it. This game seems silly at first, but it would save me £20 to £30 every time I would go shopping."
5 ways to save money on your weekly food shop
Paying yourself first
When you get paid monthly, what tends to happen is that your savings are whittled down until there is almost nothing left.
However, a TikTok user recommended paying yourself first before letting the bills come out.
This could be done by setting up an automatic payment with your bank into a separate savings account.
Louise added: "Knowing that I had set up an automatic transfer to my savings account every month meant that I had to look at my other outgoings more carefully. This led me to cancel services that I didn't need such as Spotify and Netflix."
Finding online discount codes through influencers
The experts recommend turning to social media influencers for online discount codes.
Unlike traditional codes which expire, codes from influencers tend not to have an expiration date.
When shopping online, check out brand names plus the words 'partner' or 'brand rep' on apps like Instagram.
Here you may find codes to use when you checkout.
Weighing fruit and veg to save 40%
Weekly food bills can add up which is why it's important to find little-known life hacks to save money.
One user said that you can save up to 40% on your fruit and veg by weighing these items individually as prepackaged items are usually more expensive.
The user, who would have paid £1 for a bag of onions, only paid 60p when she weighed the same amount individually.
