A campaign has been launched to improve the learning and diet of children across Scotland.

The Parent Club aims to give “small wins” to parents of children at primary school and make their day easier by sharing tips and ideas with each other.

Maree Todd, Minister for Children and Young People, launched the Scottish Government campaign at Lorne Street Primary School in Govan, Glasgow, on Wednesday.

She said: “Our new campaign acknowledges that while parents and carers do a brilliant job, they do experience many challenges and pressures throughout their day, and as kids get a bit older it can be challenging keeping them busy and entertained.

“It’s hard work but we all know that parents’ love and dedication has a lasting impact in terms of the development, health and success of not only their own children, but all of us as a nation.

“That’s why we have asked parents in Scotland to share tips, tools and ideas for other families to make their day a little bit easier.”

Ms Todd joined pupils and their parents at the school, where they made a healthy tuna pasta salad dish together.

The minister added: “It’s been great having Moogety Foods show just how simple and fun doing everyday things together can be.

“We know that parents are keen to provide a healthier diet for their families and we want to help with ideas for hassle free, cheap meals they can make and eat together.”
