Trading standards today warned the public that the manufacturers of illegal vodkas have “no consideration for human safety” following reports that a Bradford man nearly lost his sight after drinking the bogus booze.
With Christmas approaching and families stocking up on alcohol for the festive period, drinkers have been urged not to buy counterfeit drinks, such as Drop Vodka, which are “unfit for human consumption”.
A national newspaper this week reported how Dale Shaw, 27, bought a bottle of Drop Vodka from a Bradford off-licence for a family party as it was £4 cheaper than other brands.
According to reports, he had to be rushed to hospital the next day as he could no longer see and was suffering pains in the lower half of his body.
Doctors at Bradford Royal Infirmary gave him drugs which restored his sight within a couple of hours.
