Violet Wallbank, who was 35 and formerly known as Simon, was discovered by police and paramedics.

The emergency services were called to her home in Morley Street, Bradford city centre, by her friend Amy Sanderson who had not seen her for two days – although they had been talking on Facebook, the Bradford inquest was told yesterday.

Miss Wallbank’s family including her father Brian were not at the hearing.

“I attach no blame to him for that. These hearings are not easy for families,” said assistant deputy coroner Tim Ratcliffe.

Mr Ratcliffe said the inquest had been opened on July 20 last year but because the medical cause of death was not known it had to be adjourned. Investigations have since been concluded, he said.

A post mortem by Dr Alan Padwell showed Miss Wallbank died from congestive cardiac failure; he listed obesity as a secondary cause.

Some empty bottles of medication were found next to her but tests revealed she had drunk no more alcohol than a pint of normal-strength beer and had not taken excessive amounts of a drug she was prescribed.

Miss Wallbank’s concerned friend raised the alarm with police.

The inquest heard nothing suspicious had been found. Unemployed Miss Wallbank, who had been born a male in Burnley, was single.

“I’m satisfied from all accounts that Violet Wallbank’s death was from natural causes,” said Mr Ratcliffe.
