TWO lanes of the M62 were closed this afternoon after a Range Rover towing a caravan caught fire.
The incident happened on the Westbound carriageway, near junction 26, at 1.18pm.
It is thought the fire started in the engine area of the Range Rover.
Fire crews and police attended, when they arrived the vehicle had pulled into a refuge area at the side of the motorway.
The occupants, including a dog, had manage to get out of the vehicle safely.
Two lanes of the motorway were closed as a precaution, as the fire had led to thick smoke.
The scene was cleared and the lanes re-opened by 3.02pm.
The Range Rover was badly damaged by the fire.
