SIR - I share the concern of Malik Fraz Ahmad about the spectre of nuclear annihilation (T&A letters). But I disagree with his findings.
He mentions Islam's teaching of justice and fairness in leadership - meant to foster harmony and peace. But the track record of some Muslim led nations on world peace doesn't back up his claim.
He also mentions a quest for supremacy among superpowers. But the cause of the problem is just evil. Putin may have had some genuine grievances related to NATO and EU expansion after the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union but his conduct has been appalling. He could have made a structured complaint to the UN to pave the way for constructive negotiations, but chose violence.
We need Trump to lay down the law, when he comes in as he did with Kim in North Korea. The new president should spell out the harsh reality and consequences to Putin of nuclear escalation for Russia and its people and him.
