SIR - In response to Malcolm Balmforth's letter (T&A, November 22) unfortunately it's not only at Keighley Tarn that there are mindless/thoughtless individuals who think it's funny to set off fireworks at parks where wildlife lives.

At Wibsey Park there have been incidents of fireworks being wedged between seats so that they go across the lake scaring the birds.

They also think it's funny to throw trolleys and even plastic wheelie bins into the lake or ride motorbikes and quad bikes across the grass digging it up and spoiling it for others.

It's about time that if these people are caught they should be made to do unpaid work in the parks.
