SIR - Tracy Brabin needs to forget about trams and concentrate on improving the local bus infrastructure. It's absolutely rubbish.
The trams are only going to benefit those who use the two current bus services to Leeds. Would the trams replace those two services?
If so, I honestly don't see any benefit from trams. I don't see an increase in passenger numbers, certainly not from Leeds to Bradford.
To go to Leeds I have to walk to my nearest service which is the 60 from Keighley. To use the tram to Leeds, I would have to go into Bradford, therefore, going away from my ultimate destination. Given the state of the service to town, we would have to hope they actually turned up, if not on time. Not good at all. The service around Bradford needs sorting before considering a tram to Leeds.
For the majority of Bradford the service would be of no benefit. Why on earth is there also talk of using the old rail track to Pudsey to run a tram? Surely the planned route to Leeds will go near to Pudsey, or near enough, so no need for spending further money on something few will benefit from.
I don't believe there will be a dramatic increase in passengers suddenly deciding, because of a tram, to go to Leeds.
What she needs to do is to have the bus companies look at electric buses.
