SIR - The King's pay rise (£45m, a 53per cent increase) and profits from his Crown Estates (£1 billion) was neatly tucked away on the inside pages out of sight. No front page headlines or Royal pictures today to report this obscenity when the NHS has a waiting list of 7.6 million, care homes are closing, a proliferation of food banks and children in poverty.
What is wrong with us for accepting this abuse of privilege when his 'subjects' struggle to pay the bills? And just what does the new Labour government propose to do about it?
In this so called democracy when were we ever consulted about the use our taxes to keep this unelected King in the lap of luxury?
