SIR - The proposed plans for 38 bedsits on Godwin Street in a House in Multiple Occupation have to be a cause for concern (T&A, May 13).

According to the application the bedsits will be popular with young professionals and PHD students, with the living facilities and kitchen spaces being shared.

It adds that this style of co-living accommodation will meet and fulfill the aspirations of the Council. Really? If that is true then no wonder the city is in its current state.

Bradford Civic Society is quite right to criticise these plans. Our city has more than enough of this sort of property, and one has to wonder just who the bedsits are actually being aimed at?

In my view it should be given short thrift by the planners.
