SIR - 'Teen was caught doing double speed limit' (T&A headline, November 21).
Not only was the culprit found guilty of dangerous driving, including running red lights, he also had never passed a driving test, so had no licence or insurance.
Once again, sadly, the judge, Recorder Andrew Smith, considered this only worthy of a suspended sentence. Is it any wonder that the number of these offences shows no sign of diminishing?
Please bring back judge Jonathan Durham Hall who decreed that anyone involved in a blue light chase would be jailed.
How right he was, and how sad that the current crop of judges are invariably unacceptably weak.
