SIR - Congratulations to Helen Mead on a brilliant piece of writing in the T&A (November 17): 'Give me a person on supermarket tills any day.'
I couldn’t agree more. I shop mainly in Sainsburys on Harrogate road and they have taken most of the checkouts away and replaced them with bigger serve yourself things.
What I thought about that is not fit for publication.
Sainsburys have got rid of some really nice staff that maned the checkouts all for the sake of lining the shareholders' pockets.
Let us hope that common sense wins and they heed customers.
