A BRADFORD district pub has raised thousands for national healthcare charity Sue Ryder after hosting its third 'Gerrup Stand Up' comedy night.

The popular comedy night, hosted by Stephen Newsham and supported by pub landlord Tony Foster, took place at The New Inn in Baildon.

Comedians Rob Maxwell, Danny Kenehan and Jason Becket took to the stage, and there were performances from musicians Helen Davidson, Milly Starky, Charlotte Newsham and Clare Cartridge.

An auction was also held where five original paintings were donated by artist Andy Hogan and a host of prizes were donated from firms for the raffle.

The event was created in memory of pub locals and friends Jason Sagar and Charles Smith.

Jason's mum Barbara said: "I would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone attending the Gerrup Standup night and their generous contributions to such a wonderful charity. Both Jason and Chas would be extremely proud, as am I."

A total of £4,000 was raised for Sue Ryder, which provides expert palliative care and support to local people living with life-limiting conditions from its Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope.

Harriet Wood, Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice community fundraiser, said: "It's a great team effort so a huge well done to everyone who was able to contribute in some way.”
