The 10th Saltaire Festival gets underway this week, with a packed programme of music, comedy, literature, art, craft, fashion and food and drink filling the streets of the World Heritage Site from Thursday until Sunday, September 16.

The organisers say: “We love celebrating the beautiful village of Saltaire and its UNESCO World Heritage status. Over the ten days, the village buzzes with life, energy and vibrancy and we want you to be part of it!”

Highlights include an evening with broadcaster and writer Stuart Maconie, an appearance by top-selling children’s author Anne Fine, a gig by the legendary Hank Wangford, a chance to visit hidden private gardens, beer, a history trail around the shopping streets, and much more.

This year the festival is being supported by the Aagrah chain of restaurants, which is putting on a mini festival-within-the-festival in the form of a food and drink event running over the final weekend.

Mohammed Aslam MBE of the Aagrah group says: “On behalf of Aagrah I would like to say how delighted we are to be supporting the 10th Saltaire Festival. Saltaire has World Heritage status and is close to Aagrah’s proud birthplace. Our head office is based in Shipley, where Aagrah’s first restaurant was opened 35 years ago. This year there is an addition to the Saltaire Festival in the form of an Aagrah Food & Drink Festival, incorporated in the finale weekend of September 15 and 16 in Roberts Park, Saltaire.”
