EMELI Mumford’s relentless charity work to help the less fortunate has inspired other students to do the same.
The Prince Henry’s Grammar School student, 17, released a charity single for Save the Children last year after seeing a report on Syrian refugees.
She wrote it herself and busked and crowdfunded to cover the recording, CD production, and a professional music video.
The song has raised £1,000 for charity, and she has performed on national radio with a choir of 40 children from West Yorkshire.
She also took part in the Dear Santa charity project alongside the choir, inspiring them to be their best.
Away from this, she has toured local schools to perform, all on top of studying for her A-Levels, rehearsing at Ilkley Operatic Society and teaching at two performing arts schools.
Pippa McPherson, from Prince Henry’s nominated Emeli for the award.
She said: “Emeli is a delight to have around and absolutely not a prima donna. She is as proud of her Dear Santa Choir as we are of her achievement.
“This is not a school project, but Emeli is definitely a star pupil, who has gone way above and beyond what you might imagine a young woman of her age might be able to achieve.”
