ALIX Mann became a parent governor at Cavendish Primary School when his children attended, and he has stayed on after they left and become chair.
In his nomination, he was praised for “going above and beyond” to give the school the help and support it needs.
Michelle Taylor, who nominated Mr Mann, said: “He has consistently been involved in supporting and challenging the school
“He works full time but always manages to attend all meetings, and goes beyond this with regular visits to school to ensure he knows all aspects inside and out.
“He is also chair of finance committee and the named health and safety governor as this fits with his career skills.
“He supports and mentors new governors to ensure they settle in and this results in a full, strong governing body.
“For the past year the headteacher has been supporting another primary school at the request of the local authority and Alix has also stepped up to support their governing body in the same way. This has resulted in the school being able to develop both their teachers and their governors equally.
“His dedication and commitment is inspirational and hopefully will inspire other young people to consider taking on the role of governor.
