SALLY Stoker retired in December after 16 years’ service as headteacher and deputy-head at Saltaire Primary School, and has been shortlisted for leaving a “successful legacy”.
She was nominated for the Leadership Award by her successor, current head Rob Whitehead.
He said: “Mrs Stoker has ensured a highly nurturing environment so that every child feels included and valued.
“Mrs Stoker’s outstanding leadership has been a key factor in the school’s success, and has constantly sought opportunities to widen the reach of the school in the local area, for example, through working with World Heritage to establish the school as a UNESCO Associated School.
“Mrs Stoker has demonstrated tireless energy and enthusiasm throughout her career. This infectious approach has had a lasting impact on the school, having a successful Ofsted inspection within the last year.
“Mrs Stoker has been instrumental in leading the school to a very secure position, well placed for continued success.
“She will be greatly missed by children, staff, governors and parents alike.
“I believe that her track record make her a fitting nominee for this award.”
