JODIE Meade was praised in her nomination for the hard work and effort she puts into teaching her class at Ley Top Primary School, all while dealing with challenges of her own.
This hard work is the reason she has been shortlisted for the Newcomer of the Year award.
Sandra Rouse, headteacher at Ley Top Primary in Allerton, said: “Jodie has her own difficulties, in terms of having a child with a disability.
“On top of that Jodie is also dyslexic, and she has overcome all those challenges to be a super, super teacher, and I have no doubt she will go from strength to strength in her career.
The nomination from Ley Top said: “Since Mrs Meade joined Ley Top, she has made such a difference.
“Her performance at the harvest festival was amazing. She is a breath of fresh air, and she always has time for parents.”
Music and dance plays a large part in Mrs Meade’s lessons, with her pupils often up on their feet taking part in the lessons, adding to their enjoyment as well as their learning.
Mrs Meade said she was inspired to get into teaching by her mother, who is also a teacher in central London, and said she is her “inspiration”, and for her it is a “lifelong career”.
