“TRULY an inspiration” were the words used to describe Horton Grange Academy’s Lucy Balmforth, who has been shortlisted for the Nursery/Primary Teacher of the Year.
Ms Balmforth, who teaches Reception, was praised for the “excellent relationships” she builds with her pupils and their families.
She takes the lead on home visits ahead of children starting at the school and also leads on PSHE and mental health and wellbeing at the school.
Siobhan Barford, who nominated Ms Balmforth, said: “Lucy takes an interest in the lives of all staff, children and parents and goes out of her way to get to know those around her.
“Feedback from parents is she is approachable, friendly and extremely caring. They are delighted if their child is placed in Lucy’s class.
“Lucy truly is an inspiration to others in school.
“Lucy works as a member of the early years team and teaches a Reception class at Horton Grange.
“This means that her outstanding learning environment, teaching and learning strategies have an impact on the children’s lives as soon as they enter our school.
“Lucy has been part of the Horton Grange family for five years now, and she is a true advocate of the school wherever she goes.”
