TWIN brothers caught red-handed dealing crack cocaine on Bradford’s Rebecca Street were jailed for three years today.

Mohsin and Hassan Khurshid, 26, falsely claimed to be each other when arrested in a silver Ford Focus stopped on Lower Grattan Road, Bradford, Crown Court heard.

Mohsin Khurshid, of Upper Piccadilly, Central Bradford, was locked up for a total of four years after committing an offence of dangerous driving while under investigation.

Prosecutor Abdul Shakoor said the twins were arrested with nine wraps of crack cocaine in the car and a dealer phone on May 28, 2021.

A search of their bedroom revealed scales, dealer bags, £300 in cash and an ‘unofficial business card’ for the dealer line.

Mr Shakoor said the false details they gave to the police persisted until the results of a fingerprint scan became known.

A phone seized by the police had 2,786 calls and messages on it over the past 28 days. The court heard the drugs line was receiving 100 calls a day.

While released under investigation, Mohsin Khurshid led the police on a high speed pursuit across Bradford on July 24, 2021.

He was spotted overtaking queuing traffic, including an unmarked police vehicle, on Bradford’s Cemetery Road at 7.45pm.

His blue Seat Leon failed to stop and a seven-minute chase ensued in which he ran red lights, drove on the wrong side of a Keep Left bollard and did double the 30-mile speed limit.

The pursuit began on Thornton Road and included Bradford Road, Clayton Road and the Girlington area of the city.

Khurshid’s two female passengers got out of the car on separate occasions during the chase, one looking very distressed.

The Seat continued when its two nearside tyres were flat, eventually coming to a stop on Lingwood Wood. Khurshid ran off but was chased an apprehended. Two wraps of crack cocaine were recovered from the vehicle.

Both brothers pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine.

Mohsin Khurshid also admitted dangerous driving and simple possession of crack cocaine.

He had 12 previous convictions for 23 offences, including theft, robbery, assault and dangerous driving.

Hassan Khurshid, of Southfield Lane, Little Horton, Bradford, had eight convictions for 11 offences, including robbery, attempted robbery and drug driving.

Both had a conviction for possession of a psychoactive substance with intent.

Erin Kitson-Parker, Mohsin Khurshid’s barrister, said he was immature. He panicked and sped off because he had drugs in the car.

Character references spoke of the support he was giving to his parents. He regretted his actions and there had been considerable delay in bringing the cases to sentence.

For Hassan Khurshid, it was stated that his learning disability made him vulnerable to getting involved in the drug dealing.

He was the rear seat passenger and not handing out the wraps of crack cocaine. It was low-level, unsophisticated street dealing.

Judge Andrew Hatton jailed each of the twins for three years for the drugs trafficking offence. Mohsin Khurshid received a 12-month consecutive jail term for dangerous driving. He was banned for four years on his release.
