Someone is plotting to try door handles on houses in a local village - and it's the police!
Sergeant Terri Green has instructed officers to check if doors are locked in Eldwick, as part of an old school policing technique to raise awareness about burglaries.
Sgt Green tweeted: "Eldwick residents, have you locked your doors?
"I've tasked my officers with an old policing tactic of trying door handles.
"Officers used to be tasked with this on their patches historically.
"Controversial? Yes Hopefully raising awareness and reducing crime."
In an update later on Tuesday night, Sgt Green said officers had tried door handles on two streets in Eldwick and found every door to be locked.
