Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

TIME TO GET BACK THE FEELGOOD FACTOR

Join our new campaign to boost the district

It’s time to put the feelgood factor back into Bradford.

So, today, the Telegraph & Argus is launching “Brilliant Bradford”, our campaign to celebrate everything that’s great about this district and its people.

And we want YOU to celebrate with us.

It’s always easy for the knockers, the detractors and the serial whingers to run a place down: for some in Bradford their glass is always half empty and they tend to be the ones who shout the loudest.

That, sadly, can affect everyone’s morale and – worse – it can give visitors and outsiders the impression that this is a district that isn't going anywhere and a local population that doesn’t want to go anywhere.

The effect of that can be that would-be investors walk away and the cash, the jobs, the talent and the skills end up going elsewhere.

But we know better. We know that the strength of Bradford and district is its people and we know that the silent majority believe that there's a big future here for those with the courage to stand up and be counted.

So Brilliant Bradford is about simply reminding all those who live and work here that this district has many amazing things going for it and that we all should be proud to be a part of it.

Inside today's paper, we start by asking business and education leaders to tell us why they think Bradford is special.

In the weeks and months ahead we'll be focussing on some of those amazing things by asking you, the readers of the T&A, to tell us what YOU think is brilliant about this area and its people.

We're not looking for the obvious – we all know that we have a fantastic national museum, one of the best provincial theatres in Britain, one of the finest concert halls, the (official) best park in the country and some of the most incredible Victorian architecture, among many others.

We will, of course, be reminding ourselves why all of those are so important.

But our key aim is to highlight some of the less obvious benefits of living in this unbeatable district: the truly warm, generous, open and honest people; the many unstinting charitable and social volunteers; the incredible quality of products and services that our hard-working and talented workforce creates.

In the days to come, we'll be explaining how you can tell us what makes Bradford brilliant for you.

And in the months ahead we'll be announcing a high-profile awards scheme which will give every reader the chance to nominate our most brilliant Bradfordians.
